Katie Pfeiffer's Art Gallery News Updates for SUMMER 2003

Hi Everyone! I keep telling everyone I will be doing a website or adding new photos to this one. Well... I have been selling alot of art on eBAY since January so all my time has been spent either making art or listing my collectibles and thrift store finds on eBAY. I did finally take an advanced web design class but due to computer problems and the fact my computer needs a major upgrade, I cannot do too much right now. My health is totally back to normal.

Summer is here al hot and sweaty. I have been making a series of Burlesque Stripper paintings- inspired by seeing Burlesque Shows. My aim in making this new series of paintings is to combine the art I have seen at the Barnes Foundation and mix it with my own colorful folk art style while exploring this genre.

Summer movie rentals I recommend. Some of these movies ( films) are pure fluff but they made me laugh or smile.

  • HEARTBREAKERS- with Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ray Liotta. Very funny film- underrated by the critics in my opinion.
  • RAIN- a cool film set in New Zealand. This is film is NOT a comedy but artistically inspiring. The cinematography is wonderful and the clothes- AH the clothes!
  • SWEET HOME ALABAMA- Josh Lucas's first romantic film ( as lead). Need I say more? Oh yeah Reese Witherspoon is excellent too.
  • IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE ( Chinese with subtitles)- This film is so atmospheric and every time I watch it I get a serious craving for Chinese Noodle Soup. this is not a comedy but a great lesson in style.
  • ORANGE COUNTY- Jack Black, Jack Black and Jack Black. By the way, one of my favorite episodes of Saturday Night Live is when Jack Black hosted. I have not mentioned astrology or psychic predictions on this site in a while but here's one: Jack Black will be performing on Broadway- soon.
  • HIGH FIDELITY- Jack Black AND John Cusack. While this is mainly John Cusack's film , Jack Black steals this film. See this BEFORE Orange County.
  • BITTER MOON- Hugh Grant in a Roman Polanski film? yup. Surely this can't be a comedy???!!! Ahhhh but it is . A very black comedy. You'll think twice about talking to strangers on cruise ships after seeing this VERY UNDERRATED gem of a film.

Speaking of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE ...it saddens me when perusing my local video store to see the BEST OF ( fill in name of male comedian). O.k. Adam Sandler is O.k. etc etc. but what about CHERI OTERI? She is soooo funny and I literally have peed in my pants when watching some of the reruns. One skit in particular when she is on the SNL news with Norm Macdonald as a woman who sells sex toys. HILARIOUS!!!! I wish they would come out with a video of her best skits.

Well that's the latest. If you are interested in buying my art then please email me. Serious inquiries only. I won't respond to weird or bogus emails. Please respect this site. Thank you.
